Radio Room

The Richmond Township Fire Protection District operates an auxiliary communications center that is able to back up dispatch for our fire frequency in the event our primary dispatch center experiences a service disruption.  The desk features two Zetron Model 4010 dispatch consoles monitoring 10 frequencies of which 6 we can transmit on (due to FCC licensing restrictions).  Wireless Plantronics headsets for the user, allow for transmitting and receiving anywhere in the station should he or she leave momentarily.  ANI decoders on our fire frequency and local frequency identify our radios as they key up in the display of the Zetron console.

The Richmond Fire Department thanks the Village of Cary, IL for the donation of the Zetron Model 4010 Dispatch Console and associated dispatch console furniture in October of 2005! We also thank the City of Crystal Lake for the donation of additional dispatch furniture and equipment in the summer of 2008 that was used in the remodel of this room.

This is a view of the radio desk from the back wall of the radio room.   There are two radio positions, 1 to the right of center in the picture and one all the way to the left.  In the Upper corner, a TV lets us know the status of all responding firefighters to calls in progress.  A security camera system also available.

View of the radio console with position #2 looking straight on.  A computer work station is available to the right.
