Richmond Township Truck 1481

Truck 1481 is a 1984 E-One Stratosphere 110' aerial ladder truck.  1481 was acquired in November 2005 from the Franklin Park Fire Department.  It has a relatively new engine that was replaced in 1999 and $16k worth of improvements to the ladder and turntable while in Franklin Park's fleet.  In August and September of 2005, then Franklin Park Truck 2 had the honor of serving the people and property of New Orleans after the deadly 2005 Hurricane Katrina disaster.  The truck has a full complement of ladders and truck company equipment as well as extrication and rescue equipment.

Response of Truck 1481 is due in some support of capacity to all calls in the district with the exception of basic ambulance requests.  Its focus will be on rescue operations such as extrication, but its crew and equipment will support other operations that may be necessary.  With the addition of a truck to our fleet, an even stronger emphasis on truck company operations in the initial phases of structural firefighting will grow.  1481 outperformed our expectations at its first run, a 2 alarm structure fire.  Ironically, the first day it was in service, it ran to that fire.  Equipment placed on board was very valuable to the incident and its aerial ladder was used to ventilate the steep roof that would otherwise have been dangerous for firefighters to ladder using conventional means.
