Richmond Township Tanker 1472

Tanker 1472 was designed by our well seasoned firefighters incorporating modern big rig power with the demands of the terrain and distance within the fire district.  It is also specked out for standard firefighting operations in the Northern Illinois / Southern Wisconsin area. 1472 is a 2003 US Tank Custom Tanker with a Peterbilt Chassis.  It has a 500 gpm water pump and 3500 gallon water tank.  Each side of the taker holds two 3500 gallon Port-a-tanks which are like a large outdoor foldout swimming pool.  Two Self Contained Breathing Apparatus or SCBAs are mounted on board as well as multiple fittings to connect to hydrants for filling the tank, connecting to pumpers,  Even suction hoses are onboard to draft out of ponds or pools when hydrants are out of reasonable range.

Response of Truck 1472 has been very beneficial to Richmond and surrounding towns.  It has consolidated 3 old tankers into 1 and negotiates the most difficult terrain with power while the operator takes advantage of its smooth ride and ease of use.  Structure fires and grass fires are its main response both in and out of district.  The onboard pump is mostly for supplying the attack engines during the initial phase of structure fire, however can be used in any other pumping fashion.  It even pumped a structure fire in place of an attack pumper in a neighboring town during a mechanical failure of their apparatus.
